I am often asked why I believe it is so important for men, women and couples to have a Rabbi who knows them and with whom they can speak with whenever they need to talk. And the answer I give can generally be distilled into two words: ‘Torah Perspective’.

Oftentimes we are so involved in a situation - whether it be family issues, work-related decisions, or some form of inner spiritual challenge or crisis of faith, that we can’t clearly see where we are at, or where we are going. This is why many of us find it hugely beneficial to talk with a friend in such moments to help us gain a better and clearer perspective on our situation.

However, a Rabbi doesn’t just provide ‘a’ perspective. Instead, a Rabbi’s task is to provide a ‘Torah perspective’, so that those seeking their counsel and guidance are clear about where they stand in terms of their personal choices and decisions as they relate to God, faith, Torah values and Torah laws.

Whenever a new client books a spiritual coaching or halachic consultation with me, we begin with a discovery call so that I can get to know them. This is because a Rabbi can’t effectively provide halachic or spiritual counsel to someone unless they have a deep understanding of who that person is. Then, having gotten to know each other, I prepare and provide personalized spiritual and halachic guidance from a range of Torah sources in order to help that individual discover and develop a Torah perspective on their situation.
